CONNECTICUT — Entering last Saturday's showdown on the gridiron between Darien and St. Joseph, each team was undefeated and had received first-place votes from members of the Connecticut sports media. After a convincing 42-14 victory, the Blue Wave earned the top nod from all 22 panelists in the latest weekly poll.

Here are the top 10, with last week's ranking in parentheses, as well as all other programs garnering support.

  3. New Canaan (lw: 6)
  4. Hall (lw: 4)
  5. Fairfield Prep (lw: 5)
  6. Shelton (lw: 9)

  10. Killingly (lw: 10)

Also receiving votes: Ridgefield, Ansonia, Maloney, Bloomfield, Norwalk, Windsor, Newtown, Trumbull, Staples, Daniel Hand, Bristol Central, West Haven, Masuk, Cromwell/Portland, Naugatuck, New Fairfield.
