Small Fire Extinguished at Darien School

A student inadvertently started an electrical fire after turning on an emergency eyewash station.

Faculty at Middlesex Middle School quickly put out an electrical fire after a student turned on an emergency eyewash station.

The school was evacuated Tuesday morning after the student turned on the station and water ran into a floor outlet, which sparked a fire, according to Darien News.

Students returned to class by 10:45 a.m. The classroom where the incident occurred is being cleaned and should be re-opened Wednesday.
