Connecticut Weather: Snow, Ice In The Forecast

Well that changed very quickly. Earlier this week it looked like Connecticut would enjoy a nice warming trend lasting into Christmas along with some rain showers. And now, we're looking at a potential snow/ice/rain storm on Friday during what is expected to be a very busy travel day. Additionally, there is now new hope about seeing snow on Christmas Day.

The mixed precipitation for Friday lasting into Saturday isn't expected to accumulate significantly but icing on roadways is possible.

NBC Connecticut Meteorologist Ryan Hanrahan said, "Lots to talk about on Friday. Some snow and ice is expected - potentially lasting into Saturday morning (inland)." In a blog post for NBC Connecticut, Hanrahan wrote, "The analog guidance is showing high probability for over 3 hours of freezing rain throughout southern New England. Given the look and setup this isn't a surprise."

WTNH News 8 Meteorologist Gil Simmons said, "A cold wind all day today. Highs around 40 but feeling like 20s & 30s with the wind chill. A mix of sun & clouds. Quiet tomorrow. A mix or light snow deal Friday PM & another close storm Christmas Eve-Day."

FOX 61 Weather‏ said, "Wet/white or a little bit of both for Christmas Day? All scenarios are on the table. Is snow your idea of a Christmas miracle? Or did you prefer 2015 when it was 70 degrees?"
