Special Darien Board Of Education Meeting Scheduled For Jan. 17
The school district is in the process of crafting a budget for fiscal year 2024.
DARIEN, CT — The Darien Board of Education will hold a special meting on Jan. 17 at 7 p.m., as the budget process continues.
During the meeting, there will be comments from the Darien Board of Finance, and the Representative Town Meeting's Education, Finance and Budget Committees on the school district's proposed fiscal year 2024 budget.
Superintendent of Darien Public Schools Alan Addley presented his proposed budget to the full board earlier this month. The spending plan weighs in at $116,068,266, which represents a $5.4 million or 4.94 percent increase above the current 2022-2023 budget.

Addley said that his budget aligns to the strategic plan of the district, increases safety and security, provides mental health resources, addresses the substitute shortage and supports special education specialized programs.
Tuesday's meeting will be available to the public in person and via Zoom. In-person attendance at the meeting is limited by room capacity.

Doors open at the district's administrative offices at 6:45 p.m., for the 7 p.m., meeting.
