Stolen Darien Vehicle Involved In Greenwich Crash: PD
Two vehicles, one stolen from Darien, the other stolen from Old Greenwich, crashed and a couple of juvenile suspects were arrested.

GREENWICH, CT — A pair of underage car thieves from Stamford were arrested in Greenwich early Sunday morning after the stolen vehicle they were riding in crashed into another stolen vehicle driven by a suspect who ran away and remains at-large, according to Greenwich police.
The crash occurred just after 3 a.m. on Drinkwater Place in Riverside after the two stolen vehicles - a 2004 Volvo X70 and a 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee - were spotted by a Greenwich police officer after both ran a red light on Sound Beach Avenue. The Volvo had been stolen from a home on Fitch Avenue in Darien, while the Jeep was stolen from a home in Old Greenwich.
Both vehicles took off and were chased by police once the drivers saw the flashing police cruiser lights, and smashed into each other side-by-side, according to Greenwich police. The two vehicles ran off the road, and the Volvo slammed into a telephone pole, snapping it in half.

The Jeep continued a short distance and stopped on Hendrie Avenue, where the driver jumped out and ran away. Greenwich police tried to track the suspect but could not find him. The driver and a passenger in the Volvo were arrested at the scene.
According to Darien police, the Volvo wasn't discovered missing from the Fitch Avenue home until hours later.

"The complainant thought she locked her vehicle and took the keys, however was unable to locate the keys," wrote Darien police in a statement. The victim was a house sitter, whose own garage door opener had been in the stolen vehicle.
"When the complainant returned to her home in Stamford, she found the garage door open," stated Darien police. "Her stolen Volvo contained the garage door opener to her home when it was taken from Fitch Avenue. The complainant believes the suspects may have gone to her residence and entered the garage."
Arrested were a 17-year-old and a 16-year-old, both of whom were charged with second-degree larceny and a host of other violations. The 17-year-old, the suspected driver of the stolen Volvo, also was charged with engaging police in pursuit, failure to drive in proper lane, driving without a license and other infractions.
Both suspects are scheduled to appear in Stamford Juvenile Court on July 25. The suspect in the stolen Jeep remains at-large.
