String Of Car Burglaries Reported In Darien: Police
All of the incidents involved unlocked vehicles, Darien police said.

DARIEN, CT — Five car burglaries were reported recently in Darien, according to the latest crime summary from police, and all of the incidents involved unlocked vehicles.
Darien police have continuously pleaded with residents to lock their car doors and take their belongings with them to prevent the criminal activity from happening around town.
On Feb. 6, a Darien police officer took a report regarding a car burglary that occurred in the Goodwives Shopping Center a few days prior, police said.

The reporting party told police he noticed his backpack was missing from his car, and he believed it was stolen while he was parked at the shopping center, according to police.
The next day, police responded to a residence on Holly Lane where a homeowner reported their car was entered the day before shortly after 4:30 p.m., police said.

Surveillance footage showed a black SUV parked near the driveway and a suspect who ran from the vehicle up the driveway, police said. Nothing was reported missing.
Also on Feb. 7, a resident on Shadbush Lane reported to police her car was entered during the overnight hours. No property was reported missing.
On Feb. 8, a resident on Harbor Road told police he had video footage of his car being entered on Feb. 5, police said.
"The video shows males [running] up to his vehicle at 11:34 p.m. and enter the vehicle," police said in a crime summary. "Nothing was reported missing and the vehicle was unlocked."
Police went to a home on Brookside Road on Feb. 9 on another report of a car burglary.
"The complainant stated he was inside his home when he heard his garage door open at 6:30 p.m.," police said. "When the complainant called out, he heard the door slam shut. A review of the surveillance video shows two males wearing ski masks enter an unlocked vehicle in the driveway."
Nothing was reported missing, police noted.
