Suspect Attempts To Cash Fake Checks In Darien: Police
The incident occurred on Oct. 10 at a People's United Bank.

DARIEN, CT — An unidentified woman attempted to cash a pair of fraudulent checks at the People's United Bank on Old Kings Highway North in Darien on Oct. 10, but bank employees who were suspicious of the transaction thwarted it, according to police.
The incident occurred at about 11:30 a.m. when the woman drove up to the drive-up teller at the bank, which is located in the Goodwives Shopping Center.
"Both checks were in the $1000.00 range and were made out in the name of the same person," wrote Darien police in a statement. "The person attempting to cash the checks was described as a white female in her mid-30s to early 40s with dark hair and wearing a gray shirt. She did present a debit card and a driver’s license in the same name that was listed on the checks. Bank personnel were suspicious of the transaction and requested that the female come into the bank. At this point, the female fled the area in an unknown direction. The vehicle involved was described as a newer model SUV, color black, and possibly an Audi Q5."
