The incident started at Norwalk Community College and moved to a Darien bank.

DARIEN, CT — An 18-year-old Norwalk Community College student from Fairfield was swindled out of $700 on Nov. 28 after an unidentified man scammed him into making a fake bank deposit and withdrawing cash, according to Darien police.
The victim reported to police that he had been approached by a male in the lobby area of the Richards Avenue-based college.
"The male asked the victim if he would be willing to allow him to deposit a check in the victim’s bank account in order to withdraw funds to pay off the male’s alleged 'financial aid' bill," wrote Darien police in a statement. "The victim agreed and willingly accompanied the male in his vehicle. A second male drove the vehicle which was described as a newer white Chevy 4 door.

"The two male subjects then drove to the TD Bank located at 55 Post Road in Darien. Once inside the bank, the victim used the ATM and entered his PIN. The male subject who originally approached the victim then deposited two checks totaling $1,800.00 in the victim’s account. He then also made three separate withdrawals totaling $700.00 from the victim’s account. The victim stated at that point the two subjects then drove him back to Norwalk Community College and dropped him off."
Soon after, it was determined that the two deposited checks came from a closed bank account, and the victim realized that neither of the suspects were students at the College.
