Theft Reported from Darien Church

Police are investigating after a man reportedly stole money from a candle box at St. John’s Church on the Post Road in Darien.

A church worker told police he saw a man use a tool inside the locked boxes to remove bills, police said.

The worker said he recognized the man from two years ago. He was allegedly doing the same thing.

The suspect ran out of the church and denied stealing money. The worker gave chase, but lost sight of him.

A dollar bill fell from the man’s pocket during the chase.

It’s unclear how much money was stolen.
