Thieves Smash Into Darien Jewelry Store, Police Seek Suspects: PD

Police said four people wearing masks and gloves smashed their way into David Harvey Jewelers and ransacked the store early Wednesday.

DARIEN, CT — Four suspects wearing masks and gloves smashed their way into David Harvey Jewelers with a sledgehammer early Wednesday morning and ransacked the interior of the store, according to the Darien Police Department.

Police did not say how much jewelry was taken, but security camera footage appears to show the thieves smashing display cases inside the store and tossing items into a large garbage bin.

Police responded to the store, located at 955 Post Road, at approximately 4:32 a.m., Wednesday on a report of a burglary, police said in a news release.

Officers found the front glass door smashed, and scattered jewelry on the sidewalk. Numerous display cases were broken and there was jewelry strewn across the floor, police noted.

An investigation remains ongoing, and police said further details are not available.
