Tickets on Sale for Opus' Spring Ball
Platinum Ball at Wee Burn Beach Club Marks 20th Anniversary of Opus

Opus for Person-to-Person announced today that tickets are on sale for its annual spring fundraiser, “The Platinum Ball: Celebrating 20 Years of Great Works” to be held on Saturday, April 30, 2016 at Wee Burn Beach Club in Rowayton. The elegant Opus gala, which supports the Norwalk and Darien-based Person-to-Person (P2P), promises to be an unforgettable evening celebrating the 20-year anniversary of Opus, a life-changing organization of women and charity, and will inaugurate the next 20 years of even greater works. “The Platinum Ball committee is going to great lengths to make for an extraordinary evening marking an incredible milestone in Opus history for the benefit of Person-to-Person,” says Opus President Kristina Gregory.
Board Liaison Jennifer Clemow with Co-Chairs Maggie Anderson, Doreen Godfrey, Bridget Moran, and Aidan Welsh, along with the Opus board of directors and The Platinum Ball committee are thrilled to announce The Platinum Ball major sponsor GE Capital. GE Capital announced it’s support this week for P2P with a $25,000 grant made jointly by four GE leaders – Dan Colao, Mike Gosk, Dan Janki and Mike Schlessinger. “We selected P2P to receive our award because of the wonderful work you do for families in Norwalk and the surrounding communities, including the towns in which the four of us live,” said Mike Gosk, speaking for the team. “This organization fills a need for urgent assistance, and we like that you are very efficient, delivering 93% of all contributions directly to those in need.”
Tickets for the Platinum Ball are $225 for Opus members and $250 for non-members. Tables are available for up to groups of 10 and seating arrangements can be specified when purchasing tickets, if desired. Guests will sip on Platinum Punch, enjoy a gourmet sit-down dinner, and unwind with the nationally acclaimed band, The Sultans. Seasoned golfers, or those new to the sport, can demonstrate their swing in a golf contest by-the-sea and all will enjoy an exciting raffle as well as live and silent auctions. Raffle and auction items will include indulgences such as luxury vacation packages, spa pampering, VIP sports experiences, entertaining couple and group adventures, and fine goods for one or many. With the Wee Burn Beach Club shimmering sunset as the backdrop, the event calls for festive cocktail attire. Doors will open at 6:00 pm for an hour of evocative cocktails to “Celebrate 20 Years of Great Works.”

The spring gala is the largest Opus fundraiser of the year, and The Platinum Ball promises to be an evening not soon forgotten. Last spring, the sold-out Madras-themed gala at Wee Burn Country Club in Darien raised more than $130,000 for Person-to-Person. Proceeds from The Platinum Ball will help Opus begin their next 20 years with support for Person-to-Person’s Campership Program, helping children attend summer camp. P2P Camperships are made available to local elementary school children from low-income families, providing them with a safe and enriching summer experience and enabling working parents to maintain employment.

About Opus for Person-to-Person
For 20 years, Opus has supported the Norwalk- and Darien-based agency Person-to-Person through “great works” — the goal that inspired our name. We raise needed funds and enhance public awareness to help Person-to-Person reach out to 25,000 individuals in need with food and clothing donations; scholarship and camp programs to help children fulfill their promise; layettes for babies; a holiday toy store to help wishes come true; and emergency financial assistance when rent and utility checks can’t be written. As we celebrate our platinum anniversary, we are proud of the lives we’ve changed by coming together with a common purpose.
