Town Government Honors Two Long-Serving Coastal Waters Commissioners
Sandy McDonald, former chairman of the Darien Advisory Commission on Coastal Waters, and Link Jewett, former vice chairman, were honored.

An announcement sent by William Cavers, vice chairman of the Darien Commission on Coastal Waters:
The Town of Darien celebrated two of its long-serving harbor commissioners last Wednesday evening at the Noroton Yacht Club. Sandy McDonald, the former chairman of the Darien Advisory Commission on Coastal Waters, and Link Jewett, the former vice chairman, were both honored for their 20+ years of dedication and service to the harbors and shoreline of Darien.
McDonald and Jewett were both highly instrumental in helping to secure funding for and initiate the dredging of Darien Harbor’s channel in 2001 and have kept the town’s leaders informed on important issues dealing with Darien’s local waters, promoting safe boating in the process and making sure our town’s shorelines reflected the best practices of various state and federal maritime and environmental agencies.

Presiding over Wednesday night’s event were First Selectman Jayme Stevenson and Selectmen Susan Marks, Kip Hall and Jerry Nielsen. Following the reading of proclamations honoring their service, Stevenson proclaimed Sept. 4 to be Sandy McDonald Day and September 5th to be Link Jewett Day in the Town of Darien this year.
The Darien Advisory Commission on Coastal Waters will continue to work closely with Darien’s boaters and residents in the upcoming year. The Commission’s monthly meeting schedule and associated agendas and minutes are posted on the Town of Darien’s website.
