Toy Car Recharging Results in Real House Fire

No injuries and no severe property damage appears to have resulted from a fire Tuesday, Sept. 2, begun by a battery charger for a radio-controlled car.

The Darien Fire Department and Darien police were called to the scene of the fire at a house on Oak Crest shortly before 5 a.m.

They came upon a small fire which never left the garage, although smoke damaged part of the kitchen, police said. A counter top and cabinetry received some damage. The origin of the fire didn’t appear to be suspicious authorities said.
