Tracking Device Found On Woman's Car, Man Charged: Darien Police
Officers responded to a report of a "suspicious" tracking device that was found taped to a woman's car, according to Darien Police.
DARIEN, CT — A 38-year-old man was arrested last week after Darien police say he placed a tracking device on a woman's car without her knowledge or consent.
Pedro Alfonzo Castillo-Mejia, of Stamford, turned himself in on May 2 on an arrest warrant that charges him with electronic stalking, a Class D felony, Darien police said in their weekly crime summary update.
On March 28, officers responded to a report of a "suspicious" Apple AirTag tracking device that was found taped to the undercarriage of a vehicle belonging to a Stamford woman who worked in Darien, police said.

Following an investigation, a search warrant was issued, and the AirTag was traced to Castillo-Mejia, who later admitted to attaching the device to the victim's vehicle while it was parked at a Stamford gym, according to police.
Sgt. Vigil Mauricio of the Darien Police Department told Patch the woman did not know Castillo-Mejia.

Castillo-Mejia was able to post a court-set bond of $25,000. He's scheduled to appear in Stamford Superior Court on May 23.
