Traffic Alert: Upper Hoyt Street — Complete Roadway Closure Begins

Darien police want to remind residents about the roadway closure which begins Friday, August 12.

DARIEN, CT — The Darien Police Department wishes to advise motorists of a significant disruption to normal traffic flow scheduled starting Friday, August 12th, 2016.

Hoyt Street (State Route 106) will be completely closed to through traffic between Woodway Road and Camp Ave. between 9:00 AM on Friday August 12th and approximately noon on Thursday, August 18th, Darien police said in a news release.

The State Department of Transportation/Metro North Railroad will be removing the Hoyt Street railroad crossing near Wakemore Stree and installing a new crossing during this time.

Posted detours will be in effect which will utilize Woodway Road and Camp Avenue in Darien and Hope Street in Stamford.

Residents of the affected area will have access to/from their homes but may experience minor delays accessing or leaving the area.

Officers from both the Darien Police Department and Metro North Police Department will be stationed in the area 24 hours a day to assist with traffic and safety.

There will be no train traffic on the New Canaan line over the weekend and alternate bus service will be provided by Metro North Railroad.

"The Darien Police Department thanks you for your patience and asks that you consider alternate routes during this time period if at all possible," police said in a statement.
