
DARIEN, CT—At least two ATMS were stolen by suspects over the weekend in town.
Police responded Aug. 22 to the Mobil station located at 211 Post Road after an ATM was stolen in the overnight hours.
Two suspects entered through the front door by prying it open with a tool. The standalone ATM was taken and nothing else was disturbed, according to police
The ATM contained $640 in cash and is worth $2,300. The thieves left in an undetermined vehicle and were out of the store in about four minutes.
Police responded to an alarm activation around 1:30 a.m. The establishment was secured and the front door was closed and didn't appear damaged. The owner didn't respond to the alarm activation at the time.
An ATM at the Standard gas station on Noroton Avenue was also taken over the weekend.
Police are examining a possible connection between the two cases.
There was a similar ATM theft in Westport recently as well that may be connected.
