Two Connecticut Restaurants Among 100 Best in Country: OpenTable

The online reservation service compiled a list of the highest-reviewed restaurants across the country.

GREENWICH, CT — Two Connecticut restaurants were named to OpenTable's 100 Best Restaurants in America list.

The rankings are based on a total of more than 10 million restaurant reviews submitted by verified OpenTable diners. OpenTable is an online restaurant reservation service.

"The common thread running through this list of winning restaurants is excellence in hospitality," says Caroline Potter, OpenTable chief dining officer. "Whether creating one-of-a-kind fine-dining experiences or serving up incredible fare in a more casual setting, this year's honorees are consistently earning rave reviews from diners."

Arethusa al Tavolo in Bantam and Thomas Henkelmann Homestead Inn in Greenwich made the list.

Arethusa al Tavolo in Litchfield County offers a farm-to-table menu that includes items from the Arethusa Dairy Farm, and items are chosen daily from the farm by Chef Dan Magill.

Thomas Henkelmann Homestead Inn offers creative French food and is located on Field Point Road.

The list isn't compiled in any particular order.

New York state has the most restaurants on the list at 13 and is followed by California at 12 and Virginia with seven.

Established restaurants account for the majority of the list, and most are fine dining and casual elegant dining establishments.

All restaurants with a qualifying overall score and number of qualifying reviews were included for consideration. Each restaurant was then sorted by average overall score compared relatively to other restaurants in the same metropolitan area.

Massachusetts restaurant The Table at Season To Taste in Cambridge also made the list.
