Darien Police are looking into multiple incidents where a suspect pretended to be a utility worker in an attempt to gain access to an elderly person’s home.

The most recent incident occured Monday afternoon on Fitch Avenue, police said. An elderly man let a man into his home who claimed to be a water company worker. The man said the resident’s water was poisonous and needed to be checked.

It only appears that some loose change may have been taken during the incident. The elderly victim was suspicious of the man the entire time. The potential thief left in a white SUV.
