Vehicles Stolen, Burglarized In Darien: Police

Two vehicles were stolen and items such as a purse containing multiple bank cards were stolen from cars parked in Darien, police said.

DARIEN, CT — Police said two vehicles were stolen and items were taken from other cars parked in Darien over the past week.

In a news release, Police Sgt. James Palmieri said a resident reported their 2019 Lexus GX stolen Thursday from Duffys Lane. The owner was unsure if the vehicle had been left unlocked or the key was left inside, however there were no signs of forced entry and the owner could only locate the spare key.

That same day, a resident reported their 2020 Honda Accord stolen from after the vehicle was left unlocked with the keys inside on Patricia Lane, Palmieri said.

Additionally, a number of vehicles parked in Darien were entered and, in some instances, items were taken over the past week.

On Thursday, a Patricia Lane resident reported their unlocked 2015 Subaru Outback had been entered at some point during the night, however nothing was reported missing. An unlocked 2015 Ford Escape and 2014 Chevrolet Cruze parked on Patricia Lane were also reported entered Thursday, and a purse containing multiple bank cards and identifications was missing from the Ford, Palmieri said.

On Saturday, three vehicles parked at a home on Brush Island Road were entered, including an unlocked 2005 Jeep Wrangler parked in the driveway. A remote garage door opener was missing from the Jeep and likely used to open the home's attached garage, where an unlocked 2020 Porche Taycan and Volvo V90 were also entered, Palmieri said.

That same day, a resident reported an unlocked 2013 Tesla parked on Brush Island Road was also entered. They key fob, which had been left in the vehicle, was reported missing, Palmieri said.

An unlocked 2020 Mazda CRX parked on Brush Island Road was also entered, however nothing was reported missing. The owner had security cameras installed on his property, and one camera recorded the suspect's vehicle: a dark colored BMW sedan with New York plates that was stolen from Port Chester, N.Y.
