Water Main Replacement Project To Begin Soon In Darien: Delays, Detours Expected

DARIEN, CT — Aquarion Water Company is expected to begin a water main replacement project in Darien next week.

Work was originally slated to begin May 18. Project Manager Luke Scatenato told Patch the contractor has not yet mobilized, but has selected a spot for materials and equipment.

Construction will begin next week on DuBois Street, although an exact start date was not specified. Patch has reached out to Aquarion Water Company for more information.

A previous announcement from the utility company noted work will include Revere Road, DuBois Street, Lantern Lane, Maple Street, Middlesex Road, Noroton Avenue, Relihan Road, and Thomasina Lane.

The project is expected to be completed by November 2026. Final paving will then be scheduled in coordination with the town.

Aquarion said the project, which will replace approximately 10,400 feet of water main, is part of an ongoing program to improve the water distribution system and ensure the highest quality water. The infrastructure upgrades will also help to reduce leaks and water main breaks that can cause service interruptions.

"We greatly appreciate residents’ patience during this project," said Aquarion Manager of Utility Programs Aaron Nezvesky in a May 12 announcement. "We will work closely with our customers, contractors, and town officials to coordinate the work and minimize any disruptions."

Customers should expect minor traffic delays and possible detours during working hours from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
