Winning Lottery Ticket Stolen From Car; Man Arrested: Darien Police
Police said a 43-year-old man admitted to stealing the lottery ticket from a parked car at a business in Darien.

DARIEN, CT — A 43-year-old Norwalk man is accused of stealing a winning lottery ticket from a car in Darien, according to police.
Lewis Brown, of Norwalk, turned himself in on Sept. 16 on an arrest warrant that charged him with third-degree burglary and sixth-degree larceny, police said. Brown was able to post a $50,000 bond, and was released.
On Aug. 10, police said a man reported that his $500 winning lottery scratch-off ticket was stolen from his car while he was parked at Ring's End in Darien.

The man said his windows were rolled down while he went into the store, and he left the ticket on the passenger seat, police said. When the man returned to his car, the ticket was gone.
"The victim suspected an employee identified as Lewis Brown because he was the only person near his vehicle," police said in a news release. "Surveillance footage shows Brown reaching into the suspect’s vehicle."

Police said Brown admitted to taking the ticket and cashed it the next day. An arrest warrant was then granted for Brown.
Brown is scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 29.
