Winter Team State Championship History: Darien High School

DARIEN, CT — As practices for high school winter sports officially get underway in Connecticut Monday (girls basketball, ice hockey and wrestling) and Thursday (boys basketball, indoor track, boys swimming and girls gymnastics), hopes run high for all teams to achieve the ultimate goal: winning a league championship, and possibly a state title.

To help squads get into the championship mentality, here is a listing of the 35 CIAC winter team titles won by Darien High School in past years (* - indicates a co-op team). Note: the girls ice hockey tournament is not sanctioned by the CIAC, and is therefore not included here.

• girls gymnastics (7) - Class M: 2010; Class S: 2008, 2005, 2002, 2001, 2000, 1999
• girls indoor track (6) - Class L: 2014, 2013, 2010, 2009; State Open: 2013; Class M: 2008
• boys indoor track (6) - Class L: 2014, 2013; Class M: 2007, 2006, 2005; State Open: 1978
• boys ice hockey (3) - Div. I: 2016, 2015, 1969
• boys basketball (1) - Class M: 1958
