Woman Accused Of Stealing Mail, Altering Checks: Darien Police
A 31-year-old woman was detained at JFK Airport on Sept. 26, and brought back to Darien on Oct. 10 where she was charged, police said.

DARIEN , CT — A Bronx, N.Y., woman is accused of stealing mail and altering checks in Darien, according to police.
Jennifer Burgos, 31, was charged with third-degree criminal attempt at larceny and third-degree conspiracy to commit forgery, police said.
Burgos was given a court-set bond of $30,000.

On Aug. 19, a Darien woman told police that she mailed a check from the USPS box at Corbin Drive, and later discovered the checks were altered and cashed for a larger amount, police said.
An investigation identified Burgos as a suspect, police said, and an arrest warrant was issued on Sept. 22.

Burgos was detained at JFK Airport after returning on a flight on Sept. 26, police said. On Oct. 10 Darien Detectives responded to Rikers Island to take custody of Burgos, who waived extradition on the arrest warrant.
Burgos is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 20.
