DARIEN, CT — A 37-year-old woman faces several charges after police say she stole mail and packages from several homes in Darien.

Loren Ferraro, of Bridgeport, was arrested on May 23 and charged with third-degree burglary - motor vehicle; drug paraphernalia; criminal impersonation; possession of narcotics; fifth-degree larceny; and interfering with an officer.

Officers also found Ferraro was wanted on a court-issued warrant for failing to appear from an original case out of Greenwich. Ferraro was held on a $150,000 bond.

Around 1:11 a.m. on May 23, a Darien police officer was patrolling the area of Intervale Road when he noticed a woman walking by herself, police said in a news release. While checking on the wellbeing of the woman, the officer was told that she got into an argument on the phone and didn't remember where her car was parked, police said.

Police said the woman gave the officer a false name, which was the name of her sister, police found out later. When asked for identification, the woman, who was later identified as Loren Ferraro, became evasive and began going through her bag, police said.

The officer saw a piece of mail with a man's name on it, and Ferraro didn't know who it belonged to, police said, noting that there were other unaccounted packages.

Ferraro told officers her friend had her car the day prior and must have stolen the items, and that she just grabbed the bag when she left the car, police said. Ferraro was arrested and brought back to police headquarters, where she was properly identified.

Officers eventually found Ferrero’s car. Numerous packages and pieces of mail were seen in plain view, police said, noting that they also found 15 bags of fentanyl and drug paraphernalia.

The mail in the car was determined to be stolen from nine houses in Darien.

Ferraro was scheduled to appear in court on June 3.
