Woman Falls Victim To 'Distraction' Theft In Darien: Police
Police said they responded to the Post Road in the center of town on a report of a distraction-type larceny on Oct. 2.

DARIEN, CT — Darien police said a woman fell victim to a distraction-type theft on the Post Road last week.
On Oct. 2 around 11 a.m., police responded to the Post Road in the center of town on a report of a larceny, police said.
The reporting party told officers she was walking on the Post Road near West Avenue when she was approached by a man who said he needed help claiming winnings of a lottery ticket and that he couldn't read or write, police said.

Another woman approached the two and offered to help, the reporting party told police.
"The victim stated that she then walked away from them and when she arrived at her bank, she realized a large amount of money was stolen from her backpack," police said.

An investigaiton is ongoing, according to police.
