Woman Gets 4th DWI Arrest in Darien

An allegedly intoxicated woman received her fourth DWI arrest after she was found passed out in a vehicle that was partially in the Post Road travel lane.

Officers got a call that a Volkswagen Rabbit was partially in the travel lane near 379 Post Road.

Police arrived and noticed the car engine was on and a woman was passed out in the driver’s seat, police said. They woke the woman up and smelled alcohol on her person.

She said she had a few drinks and had slurred speech and bloodshot eyes, police said.

She failed field sobriety tests and had a blood alcohol level of .251 and .245, both more than three times over the legal limit.

Erin Murphy, 31, of Shelton was arrested and charged with DWI. It’s her fourth DWI arrest, some cases are from California and New Mexico.
