Woman Pleads Guilty to Blackmailing Yankees GM Brian Cashman

The woman charged with extorting thousands of dollars from New York Yankees General Manager Brian Cashman has pleaded guilty to larceny, perjury and criminal impersonation charges.

Louise Neathway, 39, entered a guilty plea in Manhattan Supreme Court on Wednesday that acknowledges sufficient evidence for conviction but doesn’t admit guilt, according to The New York Post. She was arrested in 2012 and charged with harassing Cashman and extorting $6,000 by threatening to damage his reputation by going public with their relationship.

Neathway pleaded guilty to one count each of grand larceny and criminal impersonation and four counts of perjury in exchange for five years probation, according to The Post. By filing a plea under the Alford Doctrine, Neathway, who also is known as Louise Meanwell, is allowed to maintain her innocence although she concedes there may be enough evidence to find her guilty at trial.

She has claimed she and Cashman, who has a home in Darien, had a consensual affair while Cashman was married.

Her five-year probation period reportedly will run concurrently to another five-year probationary period previously imposed by a Supreme Court judge after she was found guilty this past summer on a separate grand larceny charge. Neathway was found guilty of lying on a housing application and receiving $70,000 in rent breaks.

Neathway also agreed to drop a pending lawsuit against Cashman in which she claims he hacked her email, according to The New York Daily News.
