Ride for Women of the Congo

Join us for an evening of INSPIRATION, AWARENESS, and FITNESS at this indoor cycling event to raise funds and show support for the women of the Congo.

48 women are raped EVERY HOUR and 1,152 EVERY DAY in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Armed men use rape for systematic humiliation to counter their growing frustration at their deteriorating status in society, to breed insecurity and fear in communities, and for the INSANE belief that rape provides “magical powers” before combat.

The funds raised by our group helped to build the City of JOY, a transformational leadership community for women survivors of horrific violence, located in Bukavu, Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). This place serves as a hospital and healing community for women to recover from their past trauma through therapy and life skills programming while providing them with the essential ingredients needed to move forward in life – love and community.

To keep the City of Joy alive, we need more funds. So, on Thursday, October 16th at 6:30pm, we are hosting a charity ride at JoyRide Darien. It’s a two-hour ride followed by cocktails/refreshments.
