State Police say the accused struck a State Police trooper's vehicle on I-95.

DARIEN, CT — State Police say a Darien woman is accused of driving the wrong way while under the influence of alcohol on Interstate 95 Sunday night and ended up striking a State Police cruiser. State Police said they began to receive numerous phone calls about a wrong way driver on I-95 going northbound in the southbound travel lanes around Exit 6 in Stamford.

Ashton Steen, 26, of Holmes Avenue in Darien, who was driving a 2016 Audi, was seen traveling at a high rate of speed and there were numerous near misses with other vehicles on the highway, State Police said.

A State Police trooper saw the vehicle head toward him by Exit 12 in Darien and Steen's vehicle struck the trooper's on the side, State Police said. Both vehicles were heavily damaged, and when Steen was taken into custody she told troopers that she believed that she was in New Jersey, State Police said.
