YWCA Parent Awareness and Darien Library Present 'The Mask You Live In'
An exploration of young American masculinity and social stereotypes on May 11 at the Darien Library.
YWCA Parent Awareness, a family-focused program that provides support and education to parents and children in order to encourage the healthy, positive development of youth and families, and the Darien Library are presenting The Mask You Live In on Monday, May 11 at 7 p.m. at the Darien Library, 1441 Post Road, Darien.
The Mask You Live In is a new documentary film from the director of Miss Representation. It is an exploration of young American masculinity and the social stereotypes that surround it.
Compared to girls, research shows that boys in America are more likely to be diagnosed with behavior disorders, prescribed stimulant medications, drop out of school, binge drink, and commit violent crimes or suicide. It poses the question for society: “Are we failing our boys?” The screening will be followed by a brief discussion led by James McGinn, MA, NCC.
