YWCA Parent Awareness Presents 'Concussions: Be Aware and Prepared'

A concussion expert provides advice about concussions in youth at this 7:15 p.m. meeting on Wednesday, April 1.

YWCA Parent Awareness, a family-focused program that provides support and education to parents and children in order to encourage the healthy, positive development of youth and families, along with the Ox Ridge Parent Teacher Organization, are presenting ‘Concussions: Be Aware and Prepared’ on April 1 at 7:15 p.m. at the Ox Ridge Elementary School, 395 Mansfield Avenue, Darien.

Katherine Price Snedaker will speak about the signs and symptoms of concussions in youth and their immediate and long-term effects. Attendees will learn how concussions occur, how to help children recover from them, and how to prevent them from happening.

Katherine Price Snedaker is the founder of SportsCAPP.com, which is designed to help recreational teams, town leagues and private schools build concussion awareness into their programs for players, coaches and parents, and is also the executive director of non-profit PinkConcussions.com. Katherine has vast experience with concussions as an athlete, a professional, a coach, and a parent of three active sons.

There is a suggested donation of $10 for the talk. Registration is recommended at the YWCA Darien/Norwalk website and allows for notification of any program changes or parking information.
