YWCA Parent Awareness Presents 'Do Boys and Girls Brains Differ?'
Clinical Psychologist Addresses Role of Gender in Learning and Brain Development

YWCA Parent Awareness, a family-focused program that provides support and education to parents and children in order to encourage the healthy, positive development of youth and families, along with the Royle School Parents Association, are presenting ‘Do Boys and Girls Brains Differ?’ on March 11 at 7 p.m. at the Royle Elementary School, 133 Mansfield Avenue in Darien.
Chris Bogart, Ph.D. will explore brain development in elementary-aged children and how the differences between boys and girls might affect how they learn. Dr. Bogart will discuss the differences in language and spatial reasoning patterns between genders and how this impacts executive functions and academic performance. Parents can learn how to recognize these differences and find out how to help improve their child’s study skills at home.
Christopher M. Bogart, Ph.D., is the Executive Director at The Southfield Center for Development in Darien. He is a licensed clinical psychologist who has worked in both the private and public sectors for over 25 years. Dr. Bogart works with children, adolescents and parents and provides program consultations to local schools, as well as supervision to doctoral students in psychology. He also serves as the School Psychologist at the New Canaan Country Day School.
