MIDDLEFIELD, CT — Durham's fairgrounds host a Revolutionary War encampment and battle Saturday, Middlefield registrars hold a voter enrollment session Friday, and both towns have land use plans out for public review.

1. Revolutionary War Encampment And Battle
When: Saturday, Oct. 17, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; battle at 2 p.m.
Where: Durham Fairgrounds, 24 Town House Road, Durham
What to know: Durham's America 250 Committee presents a day of living history with military drills and battle demonstrations, colonial crafts, trades and dancing, a fife and drum corps, sutlers and food, according to the town.

2. Middlefield Voter Enrollment Session
When: Friday, Oct. 16, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Where: Middlefield Community Center, Room 4, 405 Main St., Middlefield
What to know: Registrars will enroll voters who turn 18 or become citizens on or before Oct. 16, and those who moved within Middlefield or Rockfall to a different district, according to the town's voting guide. Oct. 16 is also the deadline to register by mail or online and to submit a written request to be removed from the rolls. Early voting with same-day registration runs Oct. 19 to Nov. 1 at the Community Center, and absentee ballots are available at the Town Clerk's office.

4. Durham's Draft Plan Of Conservation And Development Out For Review
When: On file now; public hearing Wednesday, Nov. 4, 7 p.m.
Where: Land Use Office, Durham Town Hall, 30 Town House Road, Durham
What to know: The Planning and Zoning Commission's draft Plan of Conservation and Development is on file in the Land Use Office ahead of a Nov. 4 public hearing on its adoption, at Town Hall's third-floor meeting room or via Zoom, according to the legal notice.

5. Middlefield Proposes Allowing Fences As-Of-Right
When: On file now; public hearing Wednesday, Oct. 28, 6:30 p.m.
Where: Middlefield Land Use Office, Town Hall, 393 Jackson Hill Road, Middlefield
What to know: The Planning and Zoning Commission has proposed amending Section 4.5.4 of the zoning regulations to allow fences as-of-right and add an illustration showing fence placement, according to the legal notice.
