2 Portland Students Arrested After Sending Alarming Texts: Report
Police said two Portland students were arrested after sending "alarming text messages."

PORTLAND, CT — Two Portland High School students were arrested after allegedly sending alarming text messages, according to police.
They were charged with breach of peace and referred to juvenile court in Middletown.
The two students are accused of sending a text message to one of their friends, who then sent it out to a group of friends, the Middletown Press reported. One of the people who read the message reported it after they became concerned, police said.

Police do not believe the text contained a credible threat, according to the Middletown Press. The identities of the accused students have not been released due to their ages.
There was an increased police presence at Portland schools as a precaution following the incident, NBC Connecticut reported. School officials said while police did not believe any threat was posed to the school, students must understand that any threat will be reported and investigated by authorities.
