2. Live Music at Concentric Brewing Company
When: Select Saturdays and Sundays; performance times vary
Where: 91 Main St, Portland, CT
On the weekends, this local brewing company hosts musical performances by a variety of artists, typically in the afternoons. No tickets are required; just show up, order your food and drink, and enjoy the show! Check the brewery’s event page for artists and show times.

3. River Ridge Farm & Market
When: Open Wednesday through Sunday. Hours vary by day.
Where: 725 Main St, Unit 28, Middletown, CT
This year-round farmstand in nearby Middletown sells produce from its own Portland fields, as well as a robust selection of food items from other local farms and vendors. Stop by for an always-fresh selection of New England’s best seasonal items.

4. Brownstone Adventure Sports Park
When: Open daily for the season beginning Memorial Day weekend. Check website for hours.
Where: 161 Brownstone Ave, Portland, CT
As the weather warms up, you can soak up the sun with some outdoor fun at Brownstone Adventure Sports Park. Known primarily for its water attractions, this Portland favorite also offers zip lines, rock climbing and other outdoor activities.

5. Pick-Your-Own Fruit at Gotta’s Farm and Cider Mill
When: Open for the season beginning mid-April
Where: 661 Glastonbury Tpke/Rte 17, Portland, CT
This fifth-generation family farm grows plants and seasonal produce, including pick-your-own strawberries, peaches, apples and pears throughout the growing season. The farm on Route 17 is open beginning in mid-April, through a “PYO” start date for strawberries has not yet been announced. Fresh produce is always available for purchase at the farm and at Gotta’s Quick Pick Farm Market on Route 66 (opening May 1).

6. Tee Time at Quarry Ridge Golf Course
When: Open daily for the season, 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM
Where: 9 Rose Hill Rd, Portland, CT
Spring is a great time to get out on the green, and what better place than Portland’s own Quarry Ridge Golf Course? This 18-hole course offers gorgeous views of the Connecticut River and Meshomasic State Forest. After your game, you can stop in for a bite at the on-site Terrazza Restaurant and Bar.
