East Hampton Man Killed In Route 66 Motorcycle Crash: State Police

MARLBOROUGH, CT — A Monday evening motorcycle crash on Route 66 in Marlborough claimed the life of a 39-year-old East Hampton man, state police said.

According to a crash report, 5:55 p.m. Monday, state troopers and EMS crews were dispatched to a two-vehicle collision involving a motorcycle at the intersection of Route 66 and Saner Road in Marlborough.

A red 2020 Chevrolet Silverado being operated by a 69-year-old Marlborough man was traveling eastbound on Route 66 and was making a left turn onto Saner Road, according to a crash report. A black Harley Davidson motorcycle being operated by 39-year-old John Forbes 4th was traveling eastbound on Route 66 behind the Chevrolet Silverado, a crash report indicates.

As the Silverado was making the left turn, the Harley Davidson attempted to pass on the left side striking the front left quarter panel of the Chevrolet Silverado, according top a crash report. As a result of the impact, Forbes lost control of his motorcycle and was thrown from it, according to a crash report.

Forbes was pronounced deceased at the scenem state police said.
