EAST HAMPTON, CT — Several homes are without power Wednesday morning, though Eversource crews are on scene working to restore it.
As of 10 a.m. Wednesday, Eversource was reporting 42 outages in East Hampton.
In a Facebook post Wednesday morning, town officials said the company is continuing to work in the area of Hog Hill, Terp, and Schoolhouse Lane, and it anticipates restoration efforts will continue throughout the day today.
According to the town, the customers were potentially impacted by a "surge or back feed of power" Tuesday night.
Crews will be visiting properties to inspect wiring before the power will be restored, town officials said. Officials did not yet have an estimated timeframe for when the work will be finished.
Officials cautioned residents not to use generators until the internal wiring in their homes has been checked to make sure there is no damage.
If a resident has suffered damage to circuits or other property, they can submit a claim on Eversource's website HERE.
