PORTLAND, CT — On Sunday morning, the Middletown Police Department dive team, along with Portland police officer Paul Liseo, located a person's body in the Connecticut River.

The Dive Team worked "tirelessly" since the initial report of a jumper from the Arrigoni Bridge on Friday, police said.

"It was only through their dedication, knowledge, and commitment that they were able to identify the location of (the) body," Portland police said in a statement.

"The Portland Police Department would like to extend a sincere thank you to Middletown Police Chief Erik Costa for the department's support in granting the request for mutual aid through the dive team from the onset of the incident," police said. "We also would like to thank Captain Aura Smith for her involvement working with the victim's family and coordinating the deployment of the dive team."
