What’s all the HOOPLA about?
Hoopla is a digital media service offered to Portland Library cardholders, who are residents, to borrow movies, music, audiobooks, ebooks, comics and TV shows to enjoy on their computer, tablet, or phone – and even on the TV! With no waiting, titles can be streamed immediately, or downloaded to phones or tablets for offline enjoyment later. Hundreds of thousands of titles are available to choose from, with more being added daily. Use the Hoopla mobile app for your phone or tablet to access this service or visit the Library’s webpage and find the links and instructions to use these services and many more, available 24/7. Patrons possessing a Portland Library can borrow 5 items per month.. This service is supported by indivivdual donations and state grant funding.

The Traprock Landscapes of the Connecticut Valley
A slide-illustrated lecture by
Peter M. LeTourneau, Ph.D

Named landscapes of national significance, the traprock ridges of the Connecticut Valley are among the most beautiful natural regions in the eastern U.S. In this slide-illustrated lecture, Dr.LeTourneau will be featuring highlights of his new book, The Traprock Landscapes of the Connecticut Valley, including stunning photos by co-author Robert Pagini. Participants will gain an “insiderʼs view” on the environment and culture of this unique region, including tales, legends, secret spots, and little-known local history. The important role the traprockridges played in American landscape tourism and environmental conservation in the 19th century,and efforts to establish a Connecticut Valley National Heritage Corridor, will be presented. A book
signing will follow the lecture.!
