Attention College Freshman and Parents

Being in college is a time to expand your horizons and  have a chance to experience life away from home!  But did you know that the college years are when many students experience alcohol, drugs, violence and sexual assault for the first time.  Before you go off to school, take the  opportunity to learn more about how to be safe and  responsible on and off campus.

This workshop will teach students to be conscious of their surroundings, how to remove themselves from potentially dangerous situations and how to be an active bystander.  For parents, Chief Sean Cox of the East Hampton Police department will provide information that sometimes does not make it home and the skills to speak to your kids about the risks that are out there.

Major Katherine Maines is the Joint Force Headquarters Sexual Assault Response Coordinator for the Connecticut National Guard and will be teaching this workshop with her colleague Major Kristina Garuti, 379th Air Expeditionary Wing Sexual Assault Response Coordinator.
