Budget Approved By East Hampton Voters
The education and general government budget for East Hampton was approved this week amid high voter trurnout.

EAST HAMPTON, CT - Voters approved a $30 million education budget and a $14 million general government budget Tuesday, the Middletown Press reported. Voting took place in a middle school gymnasium.
This marked the first time residents voted in a bifurcated referendum due to a series of charter changes made last year, according to the Middletown Press. The process allows residents to vote separately on two main components of the annual budget. (To sign up for East Hampton and Portland breaking news alerts and more, click here.)
Education supporters had previously been pushing for the education budget to be put before voters without any reductions, the Middletown Press reported. This year was also the second consecutive year the budget was approved on first try.
