Colchester Woman Fatally Shot In Maine: Police
A Maine resident has been charged in the murder, according to the Maine State Police.
COLCHESTER, CT — A local woman was fatally shot Sunday night in Maine, and a man has been charged with her murder, according to police.
Maine State Police on Tuesday identified the victim as Makayla Rose Desantis, 23, of Colchester.
Police said the Franklin County Regional Communications Center received a 911 call reporting the shooting Sunday around 7:30 p.m.

Emergency personnel rushed Desantis to MaineHealth Franklin Hospital, and she was then transported to Maine Medical Center, where she died, police said.
According to police, the victim was shot at a residence in the Left Bank condominium complex in Carrabassett Valley, a town in Maine.

On Monday, police arrested Austin Doucette, 24, of Carrabassett Valley, and charged him with the murder.
The investigation is ongoing. The Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit is being assisted by the Carrabassett Valley Police Department and the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office.
