Crafty Cakes and Cupcakes Coming to East Hampton

A fresh coat of paint colors the walls of the old ice cream shop at 82 Main St. as local mother Cindy Sullivan works to transform the store into the face of her bake shop dream.

Sullivan, a 6-year resident of East Hampton with her husband Ben, is opening Crafty Cakes and Cupcakes later this month.  The shop will specialize in cakes made to order, as well as specialty cupcakes for walk-in clientele.

The shop will also have ice cream, indoor seating and will offer decoration parties for children.

Sullivan said she learned her love of baking from her mother, and has been honing her craft for the past 10 years. [Hear Sullivan talk about her baking roots in the video above.]

"I love decorating cakes," Sullivan said. "I make my own recipes, cakes, fondants."

Originally creating cakes for her family and posting the pictures to her Facebook page, Sullivan said friends began calling asking her to bake for them.

Sullivan said she hopes to have a soft opening for Crafty Cakes and Cupcakes later this month, with a grand opening sometime in June.
