CT Solar Challenge Hosting East Hampton Workshop in October
East Hampton business owners and residents are invited to attend.

CT Solar Challenge is inviting East Hampton businesses and residents to an Oct. 20 workshop on installing solar energy for less.
The workshop, part of the town’s Power Down/Solar Up initiative, will be 6:30 to 8 p.m. at East Hampton Middle School at 19 Childs Road.
Experts will explain the benefits of solar power and provide information on generous federal and state subsidies. They will also analyze individual homes and buildings for solar suitability.

“The goal (of Power Down/Solar Up) is to improve quality of life by reducing energy bills through conservation and alternative energy,” East Hampton Town Manager Mark Maniscalco said. “I hope residents will take this opportunity to learn about money-saving services available through this program.”
CT Solar Challenge is a non-profit, community-based initiative that reduces the cost of solar installation. The initiative partners with towns and cities to offer residents and businesses solar for less. Property owners who sign up for solar through CT Solar Challenge earn the town of East Hampton points toward a free solar array.

East Hampton is the 12th Connecticut community to partner with CT Solar Challenge. The program, which kicked off in East Hampton last spring, is only available for a limited time.
“I’m proud and excited that East Hampton is member of the CT Solar Challenge family and that we are part of the Power Down/Solar Up initiative,” CT Solar Challenge Director Maggie Treichel said. “We hope Belltown residents will take this opportunity to learn about the many economic benefits of solar. Solar is more affordable than ever and provides significant savings over time. Our team and I look forward to meeting East Hampton residents Oct. 20 and answering their questions.”
The town launched Power Down/Solar Up last spring to help residents become more energy efficient and independent. Officials are partnering with CT Solar Challenge and others to provide property owners and businesses with competitively priced options for conserving energy and installing alternatives.
