Ct. Trees Of Honor Dedication Ceremony

Was Saturday September 17th

The Connecticut Trees of Honor Memorial was dedicated on Sept. 17, 2016 at Veterans Memorial Park.

Music was provided when walkers and bike riders arrived by many local bands including a Middletown native and Ct’s first state troubadour Tom Callinan:
All along a circular path in the park are 65 trees, a stone memorial and plaque.

Ct. Trees of Honor committee members, Gold Star families, the CT Run for Fallen, veterans and others gathered with state and local officials for the Ceremony. It was behind the new statue “First Tear,” made and donated by sculptor Andrew Chernak of Pennsylvania, hundreds of people sat or stood on the lawn and under a giant tent. The “Master Of Ceremony’s” was Renee DiNino:
The keynote speaker Former Navy SEAL officer was Chris Fussell. The meaning of the day, one of solemnity and celebration, was summed up by Fussell:
At the conclusion of the proceedings, Ct’s first state troubadour Tom sang “Gone but not forgotten”:
