Dog Alerts Portland Family of Electrical Fire in Home

PORTLAND, CT – A Portland family has their dog to thank for alerting them of a fire in their home, NBC Connecticut reported.

The dog alerted its family after a small electrical fire sparked behind their home, according to NBC Connecticut reported. The family evacuated their Indian Hill home after hearing the animal, as well as smoke detectors, go off.

Firefighters later put out the flame before it was able to spread, NBC Connecticut reported. The fire marshal is investigating.
