East Hampton Finance Board Defers Action On Town Budget: Report

A group of education supporters are demanding nearly $700,000​ be allocated for education​ in the town budget.

EAST HAMPTON, CT — The Board of Finance took no action on the town budget Monday as a group attending the meeting demanded nearly $700,000 of an Education Cost Sharing grant be allocated for education, the Middletown Press reported.

According to the Middletown Press, the Town Council voted earlier this month to allocate the largest share of the grant to reduce a projected tax increase, however a "small but determined" group of education supporters argued the money should go towards operations and be used for only for education.
