EAST HAMPTON, CT - The police department's K-9 unit, Ringer, will get a bulletproof body armor vest, according to a statement from the town. The body armor is courtesy of a donation from a non-profit organization called Vested Interest and sponsored by the local Rotary Club. Vested provides departments with the vests - which run upwards of $2,000 - for $950.

The organization has provided over 2,700 vests to departments across the country at a cost of more than $2 million.
