East Hampton Passes Budget on First Try
Amid the state's fiscal concerns and struggles, East Hampton voters were able to settle on a budget at first attempt.

EAST HAMPTON, CT- Voters passed the 2016-17 municipal budget Tuesday on first try, according to the Middletown Press.
A budget of $42,791 million was approved in a one-day period after a vote of 1,282 to 846, the Middletown Press reported. Passing a budget in only one try is not typical for the process, possibly signaling an understanding of current debt issues on the part of residents.
The new budget comes in the middle of concerns over debt payment and the state’s continued financial uncertainty, according to the Middletown Press. The vote came only 16 days before the end of the fiscal year.
