East Hampton Police Arrest Portland Man Charged with Stealing $600 Worth of Packages
Police used a victim's home video surveillance to track down a suspected package thief.

EAST HAMPTON, CT - East Hampton police said a home’s video surveillance led to the arrest of a Portland man who stole packages from outside the home, according to media reports.
Police said Jason Carrier of Portland was arrested Tuesday evening two hours after receiving complaints from the Skyline Estates victim of a package robbery, the Middletown Press reported. The owner said he had video evidence of to support his complaint.
The victim’s video surveillance system showed a man driving a silver Subaru Impreza stopping at his residence, stealing a box and placing it in the trunk of his vehicle, according to the Middletown Press. Police said they identified the suspect’s license plate from the video.

East Hampton Police said they recovered over $600 in merchandise stolen by Carrier, Fox 61 reported. This included the original victim’s stolen package, as well as a second package.
Police ask anyone missing a package scheduled for delivery on Dec. 6 to contact them, according to Fox 61. They also ask citizens to take precautions when having packages delivered to their homes during the holiday season.
